Spotting is so intricate, so complex that it requires continuous training. Continuous. I mean it. And I tell you how continuous it must be and must be done. I have stumbled on this subject of spotting about fifteen years ago. And in the meantime, I have made it a life task to study this subject. And I tell you I have studied it very perseveringly, day after day, I must say hour after hour, in all these fifteen years. And you should think that now I am a master of spotting. But I am not yet. And whether I will ever be, I don’t know. I’m still too slow in finding meanings underneath statements and reactions, far too slow to suit me, although you may be certain that I am much faster than anyone is who has not studied and learned the technique.” (MFMA, p. 207)
